I kinda wish i had gone with the 18" ones instead of the 21" model, and i think the black finish would probably hold up better over time than the chrome. I'm not sure if it's polished solid steel or nickel plated, but i think they're nickel plated which means the finish may chip over years of sparring. Overall though, they are sturdy and attractive, and they will absolutely do everything a sai is supposed to do (which for the record is mainly blocking and catching swords). These are real sai: they are blunt, defensive tools. So to everyone who grew up watching ninja turtles and thinking sai are sharp, pointed offensive weapons... you're better off getting a pair of daggers.
