The pump is desingned to simly break in two for cleaning and there is an LED on it which illuminates the bowl which has a window that provides a look into the remainng level of water so you dont have to guess and run the bowl over by over filling . The pump is so quiet it is almost impossible to hear so that means it is more efficient.
