Installation wasn't super difficult as we have two half flight stairs to a landing and I could get away using one 90 inch track section. For me, the only metal cutting required was for the gear track, which was easy to do. I used a multi tool with a metal cutting blade without a problem, and you don't have to get it perfect, as there's a compression screw on the endcap to keep the gearing in place. The equipment is pretty heavy and while I installed it alone, it would have gone lots faster with a helper. Our stairwell is narrow (36" wall to wall), so we aren't able to take advantage of the rotating seat, as the track is 5 inches from the wall. This page doesn't mention the button on the right armrest that controls up and down travel, so you don't need the remote while you're in the chair, which is what we first thought. If you zoom on the chair picture, you can slightly see it. It's a very sturdy stairlift and will last a long time. We'll buy a second for the other flight. Took a while to install but it works perfectly and I can still have enough room to get by it -up the steps to the house. Have to have knowledge of electrical hookup probably and it helps to have 2 people to measure everything at first. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Stairlift; good customer service; instructions are a bit lacking in detail *by W***R on May 31, 2020* This is a good solid stair lift; works well to help my spouse up and down our basement stairs. When you install it, a few things that you may want to consider: 1-make sure you get far enough from the wall (I ended up about 8 inches from the stair wall which gave me enough room for the chair to clear the upstairs door); 2-make sure you have adequate clearance from the stair steps to the rail; I believe the instructions say a minimum of 1 inch--I ended up at around 3 inches to keep the foot rest from dragging; 3-You can see the rail ended about 2 inches from the top door, this gives adequate room for the lift to get to the top, chair can swivel if desired, and you can still close the upper door; 4--the plastic chain is particularly challenging, it is designed to bend in only one direction; I didn't realize this initially and the chain would continue to bind underneath the chair; be careful when unwrapping the chain, make sure that where it becomes disconnected you snap it back together in the "right" direction. Overall a great lift; works well, we haven't had any problems since I got it completely setup. I'd have given it 5 stars if the instructions were better and had some pictures to help explain the setup.
