Will they tip easily? Planning to use as shelf look for children's toys** A: They are well made, however I don't think I'd use them for children's toys since they may splinter. Also, even though well built, once they are stacked they could easily be knocked over. **Q: Are these for outdoors use as well?** A: Under cover only. Like a front porch. I have used them out doors but well covered. **Q: Would these work for pantry organization and can they be stained a different color to match my decor?** A: I think they are probably to bulky and heavy for Panty organizers. But yes you can stain them. I love mine, had them for a few years now. Just kinda heavy duty for Panty stuff. **Q: Is the opening 12 inches wide or the whole thing? They make great shelving! *by P***M on July 18, 2020* We had to wait a while for these to be delivered because the seller was waiting for shipping cartons, but they finally arrived and we couldn't be happier. They are so well made and very sturdy, not anything like what you see at home improvement stores or craft stores and the finish is a nice warm color. Our intention was to use them as shelving that's also pet friendly because we have a cat that loves to climb. We made paper templates to figure out their placement. Then we attached metal brackets to the crates, as shown in last photo, and screwed them to the underside of the cross pieces that make up our semi "ship-lap" wall. Our cat is able to climb up on them to get to his perch which is a shelf over the door.
