The first KIND bars I ever tried where the ones that are mainly nuts and they are just TOO hard and chewy. These are just chewy. I bought these in a variety box, set of 3, mainly for my hubs to take to work for snack.I must be part bird because I love the little pieces of millet in them! I also love that they are nonGMO - I don't care what anyone says, I personally choose to live a nonGMO lifestyle to the best of my ability. The naysayers claim that GMOs are totally harmless but this statement is not based on fact (mainly because there have been NO long term studies). I do know that when I switched to an organic/nonGMO lifestyle, I feel so much better overall and these granola bars only add to that. I love that I can eat them without the guilt. I look back and cannot believe that I used to eat processed junk like those boxes of 99 cent snack cakes. (bleh)The packages I received were fresh and since I ordered them at the end of April, they didn't melt during shipment. Melting would be my only concern if these were bought in the middle of the summer. I have tried several flavors of KIND products so far, and I like or love almost every one of them. I trust the brand and wouldn’t hesitate to purchase more of their products. The Peanut Butter Chocolate is my favorite flavor so far, although I feel like it should have more peanut taste. I have been buying a few boxes at a time via Subscribe & Save to have on hand and I think they are well worth the price.These are light, crunchy/crispy, sweet but not too sweet. I keep a few of these in the car for “emergencies” or just in case I have to skip a meal (not to say that this would fill you up). At home, this would be a good dessert or afternoon munchie. I wouldn’t use this as a sport nutrition bar; there is not enough protein (2.5-3 g) for that level. But it might be just about right alongside a cup of yogurt, however.I think that you might not appreciate the taste if you are used to very sweet, processed snacks of this kind, but for those of us that lean towards healthy foods and whole grains, these would be just about right.These bars are gluten free, no cholesterol, low sodium, relatively low fat and non GMO products with a nice level of fiber. Of the three, the big surprise was that the pumpkin flavor was my favorite. Who would have guessed. I purchased the variety pack to sample the two that I had never tried before and ended up liking the one better than all the rest.While these bars are a bit pricey for a small snack, I imagine it has to do with the great ingredients added. Everything seems top notch and of the best quality. While some KIND bars have recently had hemp oil extract added in (something that many companies warn against, specially if they conduct urinalysis tests), these little bars have no such ingredients.Each bar is just big enough to satisfy the craving, but not so large as to fill you up. For only ~150 calories, they serve as a healthy alternative to regular candy bars (~200+ calories).Overall, I'd say these bars are a healthy alternative, offer great ingredients, and a very nice selection of flavors.
