Tamping mechanism works well to get a consistent amount of pressure every time - before this, I was using the tamper that came with my Breville Bambino that worked OK, but my shots became a lot more consistent after switching to this tamper. The bad: the tamper is held together by a screw that slowly worked its way loose as the tamper was used, and it's difficult to reattach once it comes off.
