Review: Good key - Worked great locksmith cut and programmed them for me. ZS Locksmith based out of Poughkeesie NY
Review: Excellent and economical choice for new key fobs - This is a great choice! I have a key fob for another car from this company that has worked great for the past four years. This one is for my 2004 Honda LX Accord. I went to the Batteries Plus Bulbs store in the next town over. It only cost $10 per key to have them cut. So I made sure both keys worked in my door lock before heading home. At home I took apart one of my old key fobs and took out the "chip". I had to use a blade and pry it out of the plastic housing. This damages that old key fob, it does not matter because it didn't work anyways. Now take apart the new key fob. The blank chip will come out easily (there is no housing for the chip in the new key fob). Put the old chip in the new key fob. Now you can enter with the key and start your car engine at this point . To get the key fob to open/lock the doors you need to do a few simple steps to program it: You have 5 seconds to complete each step. If you take longer than 5 seconds you will need to restart the entire process. You can attempt this process as many times as necessary to complete the entire process. So, enter the car and close all the doors. 1) Turn the ignition to the ON position (II) (If you look closely at your ignition, you will see the II symbol) 2) Press the lock button on the remote you are programming 3) Turn the ignition to the OFF position (I) REPEAT THE ABOVE STEPS THREE TIMES 5) Turn the ignition to the ON position (II) 6) Press the lock button. At this time you will hear the door locks cycle (faint clicking sound) confirming that the car has entered the programming mode. 7) Press the lock button again. The door locks will cycle again confirming that the vehicle has programmed the remote. 8) Turn the ignition to the OFF position (I). The directions I followed said that if you have more remotes to program, just follow step 7 within 10 seconds. This did not work for me, so I just started from the beginning with my second remote. If you have additional remotes, you will need to follow these steps for ALL of them.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: are these work for honda civic 20013 LX?**
A: Getting these keys to work is a 2 step process. You first have to get a locksmith to cut the key-then a Honda dealer to program them. But yes they will work.

**Q: Do I *have* to pay a dealer/locksmith to program these keys or is there a way to do it myself?**
A: I tried to program the keys myself following the YouTube directions with my one working remote on my Honda Accord 2007. Basically, you turn off the car (not starting it) and hit the lock button and you do this 4 times. After the 4th time, you hit the lock button again and you get it into program mode. But the first time I did this with my one working remote, it failed. So I took it to the Honda dealer and they had the magic touch and got it working again.

But I learned a lot about keys at the Honda dealer. You cannot just swap a cut key into the new remote. There is a chip inside the remote that works to start your car, so even if the remote is not working to open the doors, the chip is still good and will talk to the car when you start it with the cut key. These remotes obviously don't have that chip. Unless you know how to get the chip out of your old remote and into the new one, these remotes will not work to start the car.

To get a new remote without a working remote, the Honda dealer has to hook up the car to a computer, etc. That's why it costs $130 for a new remote with a working key.

**Q: Viene con el chip para encender el carro??**
A: Hay que cortarlas igual

**Q: Saludos yo compre esas pero nunca las use por que vendí el carro pero ahora compre un civic 2005 las puedo usar?**
A: This item does not fit a 2005 Honda Civic.

### ⭐ does not work for 2005 honda element
*by B***L on January 2, 2025*

the fob remote function potion of these 2 keys does not have the proper code for the car they said it will work for. you must get a locksmith that has the programs for your vehicle. this seller should provide you with the code their keys are to ask locksmith that the key code matches the car. the seller must know this ! i got a mobile locksmith who came to my house. he switched the chip in both keys so the key portion works, but the remote does not because as said, the codes don't match. now i have to but the remote portion and attach it to the key portion. or i can return these, get the correct code from seller and pay for a second locksmith visit. dont buy unless they give you a code for your exact vehicle and then call locksmith and see that they match.
