Insects do run in mass when you spray. But those enveloped by the fog drop dead fairly quickly. If you start upwind so as you fog it has more loiter time over the grass/brush it kills a vast majority of them. But there are a few fast ones that seem to "outfly" the fog cloud. This stuff is not perfect, but it is the best I have found so far over the past 15 years. **Q: how long would a gallon last on a half acre?** A: Hey Henry,This is Joseph I bought two gallons of Bonide fying insect fogger; I wait until the wind calms in the evening for maximum kill sundown before dark the mosquitos swarm then and day break. I've filled my tank and fogged my 1.25 acrea as well as my neighbors 1.5 acrea and had about a 1/4 to 1/3 tank left. I'm still using the last gallon and I found after fogging about 5 time the mosquitos were non existant for a few days to a week. then came back we live near a marsh salt water and have large one that have a very painful bite. I ordered two gallons because the shipping was easier on two than one. My fogger instructions advised me to allow it to heat up good then squeeze the trigger once or twice to prime. Count to 4 before each squeeze of the trigger. Dry fogging covers more ground and travels better through the grass and weeds; also better for the garden. Squeezing trigger too frequently produces wet fog "wasteful", your pipe drips and wet oilly residue is left on the grass or vegetables.
