They have a stiff blade and a soft, flexible foot pocket. The size chart is correct. I wear a size 15 street shoe and the 13-14.5 fit my feet well. The problem that I found was that the heel pocket is very shallow and I feel that these fins will slip off my heels when doing a lengthy swim. Unfortunately, once the fins get wet, they can't be returned so I really don't have a way of trying them out unless I just want to forfeit the opportunity to return them.
