It was used in an overall high-end audio system, but not the "mortgage the house" type of setup. It's not like I was hearing a lot of audible "noise" or hum beforehand, but that's not usually going to be the case anyway. A better metaphor would be like having a dirty lens on your camera. It'll end up smearing or giving all your pictures a slight haze or fog. But until the lens is cleaned you won't really know what's going on. It could seem slightly out of focus, or like the air was a little heavy. This device did the equivalent of cleaning the lens. Everything just got a little sharper and with more "space" around vocals and instruments. I will probably be getting one for our Fire Cube next. Setup could NOT be any easier, and it has an indicator to let you know if you have a reverse polarity situation. (Plus a large range of adapters to deal with compatability). Review: solid piece - I picked this up because I couldn't find a 12v 3a solution for me at a reasonable price so I decided to work with what I had this was for my Gateway/ Verizon router and not for my audio system per say and it does work even for the audio. I also picked up an Uplink cat 8 ethernet cable that goes To my streamer from my Gateway at the time and it further improved my signal. I continued to use my iPurifier2 after I replaced the wall wart it was connected to with an iPower X. The seem to work well together. **Q: Does using the dc ipurifier 2 between the ifi power supply and the original tube buffer (w/ digital antidote) improve performance?** A: Basically the DC purifier 2 serves to filter noise on the DC line and so less noise is better - and if the DC purifier 2 works with the original tube buffer (voltages and current/power draw, etc.) then it would likely improve sound or certainly not hurt anything. **Q: I’m using a ifi power adaptor for my hard disk drive connected to a streamer. would this further improve sound quality?** A: You may see some additional benefit but perhaps not that much. I have seen that if the original power adaptor is decent quality, then leaving it in and using this filter makes a bigger difference than replacing with the ifi power adaptor alone.
