I charged it as soon as I got it and left it in my car (charged in it's case), mind you I live in Chicago and we had freezing temperatures at night for the past 10 days or so. I just had a fellow driver asking for help because his battery died. Awsome, i was wondering if it will still be able to jumpstart his car eventhough it was charged a while ago and it was in the cold. I will tell you this works like a charm, and if you leave in colder area you know how car batteries can fail when you need to get to work. This is a necessary item for car if you want to avoid paying for service to come and help you out, like I did before I bought this item. Jumping a battery is always the fastest option for getting it running again, however, you’ll need another car and another person to help as the job will require linking two cars with jump leads. If you have a friend or family member you can call to help, give that a try if you know what you are doing, however, that might be difficult at 12 a.m. in the midnight.I left the headlight on for running for prolonged periods, and stranded in the parking lot with no jumper cables or nobody is nearby to help. While some of the problems we discussed above actually had to do with a bad battery, many of them were unrelated underlying causes. In those cases, fixing the unrelated problem and fully charging your battery will be the end of it. However, the reality of the situation is that every time a battery dies, it suffers irreversible damage. The other important issue is that when the voltage of a car battery drops to about 10.5 volts, but the battery actually detected for 14 volts with this jump starter.I notice that absolutely nothing happens when I turned the key, then I could be dealing with a dead battery. When the cranking sound my car makes seems labored or slow, that indicates either a problem with the battery. The most common cause is that the level of charge in the battery is insufficient to properly operate the starter. The starter motor may be able to turn the engine over, but not well enough for the engine to actually start up and run on its own. Cold weather can also cause this type of problem because excessively low temperatures reduce the ability of a lead acid battery to store and deliver power. In most cases, replacing your battery with a new one will fix this issue. However, you may be able to locate a replacement battery that has a higher cold cranking amperage rating than your old battery. If you can find such a battery, and it safely fits in your battery compartment, then that’s definitely the way to go.I immediately opened up the hood, saw that my car battery is leaking acid and corroded. Connected the red clamp to positive (+) terminal, and black clamp to negative (-) terminal. First attempt to jump start the dead battery but it didn’t start. Second attempt to jump start the battery finally worked. I thought I could crank up the battery in seconds. If you see that the battery is cracked and is leaking acid, DO NOT ATTEMPT to jump start the car as you will be putting yourself in serious danger. My car battery has 650 cold cranking amps, I’m glad that I got this 1300 peak amps and 650 starting current and about 650 cold cranking amps. If you have to jump your vehicle more than three times in a single week, it's time to replace your battery. I already used this jump starter 4 times last week. Finally I had to replace a new battery yesterday.Make sure you look up your car online to find out what level of Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) and voltage your car needs to start and run properly. A good set of jump starter should rate above 600 peak amps. Save yourself the headache and just replace the battery if you've had to jump it more than three times in a week.
