If you aren't used to such a fit, then these may not be for you. These are indeed low rise and there's not much fabric to speak of. The pouch is nice and soft and won't cause any discomfort.The rear straps, however, are not the best. They don't provide as much support as you may be used to with other jock straps. They hold up nice in a washing machine. I have not put them in the dryer, and I would advise against doing so!
