Check out ZZ plant -- it's truly one of the toughest around, making it a perfect choice to add to your home or office. Whether you're able to give it steady care, travel a lot, or just get distracted by all the stresses of daily life, ZZ plant survives it all. Plus, it looks good: The plant features shiny, dark green leaves that look waxy (some people even think they're plastic). Haven't heard of ZZ plant? You're not alone; it deserves a lot more attention than it gets. It was discovered in Eastern Africa in the 1800s, but it wasn't until the 1990s that it really took off as a houseplant. While ZZ plant isn't exactly rare, it's still catching on -- so grow ZZ plant and you can be ahead of the trend. What makes ZZ plant such a good houseplant is that it's wonderfully tolerant to a wide range of conditions, including low light, low humidity, and periods of drought. That means it will survive just about any corner of your home, even if you only water it once every couple of weeks (it grows best, though, when watered as the top inch or two of the potting mix dries). Like most other plants, ZZ plant doesn't even need natural light -- it'll thrive just fine indoors under fluorescent lights, such as those in office buildings. Anyone find bugs when they received theirs?** A: I isolated these for a few weeks before putting them in with the other plants in my sunroom. Fungus gnats are now everywhere. I can only think they began with these plants since I didn't have them before. I had to throw the plants and the dirt out. I've been treating my other plants with watered-down peroxide to see if that will kill the live bugs and the eggs. Sadly it's the chance you take when ordering plants from any site. **Q: Ive had this for 2 weeks, watered once. Some of the leaves are starting to turn yellow. What do i do?** A: I've had mine since xmas. One yellow leaf that fell off on its own. I also water every 2 weeks, but give the leaves a light mist every week. It may be getting too much light or simply be acclimating to it's new home from the trip. I've kept mine on a table in the middle of a room with windows, but no sun. It sat for a month or so and then started having babies like crazy from the bottom. I just transplanted it, the original pot was bursting. The growth slowed down, but I think all it's energy is going to allow the roots to spread now. It's doing beautiful and has at least grown 3 times as large. It likes to be pot bound, so don't be in any hurry to transplant for at least 6 months. I think yours just needs more time. I love this plant so much, I even checked into propagation. they all suggest dividing or leaf cuttings. Didn't want to risk that on a new plant. I did find a place that sells seeds, got 50 for only $4. No instructions at all, so I winged it. Have had this going for 4 months, was ready to dump it. They are almost impossible!! But now I have 4 tiny ones, hoping to get more. Hope this info helped. **Q: Keep moist or dry and fertilize?** A: This plant likes it dry. I planted in some fertilizer enriched planting mix, and it's thriving. By the way, it seems to be the new hot houseplant. I'm seeing it lots of places where professionals probably chose it. I suspect its minimal maintenance may have something to do with that. **Q: Is this plant aromatic?** A: Hi janet! The ZZ plant is not considered to be aromatic. We hope this helps! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent on all levels *by V***E on September 17, 2026* I was extremely pleasantly surprised with it’s appearance condition, size, quality the germination condition!
