Though this is plastic, the construction seems good. It feels heavier than it looks in a good way, but not too heavy that i becomes a chore to carry. The magsafe works well to attach itself to the device. The installation was easy, though little unorthodox. The plate closes against the ssd and latch clicks in place. it may look flimsy but holds without issues. As I am not planning to swap ssds frequently, not a problem for me. but if you are planning to do that a lot, looks elsewhere. I used 2280 ssd and it fit without issues in the relatively small space inside. It does get warm with use, but not too hot to touch. I am not putting it under heavy load. if you are, something to keep in mind that this is a plastic container with no ventilation. Fine for light use but heavy use may not be sustainable. I can't vouch for heat dissipation. I tested the speed before committing on the mac. the tests at least reach the max of 10gbps without issues. It is a reasonable speed for regular use. any lower speed would not be usable. Overall, it is decent value for money. It got me what I wanted. Could it be better? yes. I would have liked at least the top of bottom made of some metal for heat dissipation. Perhaps a metal or stronger latch would have been better for swapping out ssds. Even with all these issue, this is a good purchase for now. Using it for a few months now without issues. I will update if it ends up failing with in a few years. I could not get this to stay connected to two phones and two laptops I tried. It would connect then disconnect automatically. So excited to buy this only to feel like I wasted my time. I did have to attach the drive to a computer and use disk management to create an exFAT filesystem before the drive was recognized by Files in iOS. But the enclosure works perfectly as designed. NVMe drive access works without needing external power, as does the headphone connection. The DAC is low noise. I haven’t tried the secondary USB-C data connection yet, but I expect I’ll have no problem using it for USB MIDI.
