Review: THE BEST SUGAR-FREE FRUIT CAKE I HAVE FOUND - Who could have predicted during the Middle Ages that fruitcake would be a controversial item in the 20th and 21st centuries ? Count me as a fruitcake aficionado -- for me Christmas is not Christmas without one. I purchase one and keep it frozen until Christmas Eve (at the earliest) and during the following days treat myself to a slice for breakfast. That said, there are many inferior and bland fruitcakes on the market than superior ones. For years I ordered very good to excellent fruitcakes from various abbeys in the US but having received a diagnosis of diabetes, that stopped -- I thought, with regret, for the rest of my life, but a few years ago I discovered this sugar-free fruit cake on desertcart and without great expectations ordered one. It was astonishingly delicious, and I have ordered one every year since then. It is not a low-calorie food, but for those, especially diabetics, who must watch their intake of sugars, this is a safe treat.
