## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this a good starter seed for an area with no grass at all? Thank you**
A: The question you should have really asked yourself is why is nothing growing in this area? If even weeds will not grow, then you may have pH problems or other issues that would make growing a desirable turf more difficult. This would be a good option if you need quick coverage assuming the soil is in good enough condition to grow grass, but as other said, this is an annual seed. If you plant it in the fall, it will over-winter and persist through the following season. If you plant it in the spring, it will die off at the end of the year if I understand correctly. If you want seed that persists season to season, get a perennial type seed. I strongly suggest researching grass types and seeing what will grow there based off of the amount of sun and shade you get. Also, if possible, I suggest looking at turf types that spread via stolons and/or rhizomes so they will self-heal without the need to reseed dead patches. This way when you have a weed in the lawn and kill it, the desirable lawn will spread into the area where the weed was and take that space over. The #1 defense against weeds is a thick and healthy lawn, and self-healing types of turf are great at this and help to reduce future weeds.

**Q: Can I just spread the seed or do I also need to buy compost or fertilizer?**
A: Here' what I did:1. The soil was prepared by using a manual cultivator to loosen the top layer of soil.2. The seeds were spread by hand along with starting fertilizer.3. I then used the manual cultivator to bury the seeds and fertilizer.4. I covered the freshly planted soil with a straw/hay blanket to protect them. (from the birds that feasted on them the last time)5. The soil was watered once daily. Considerable new spouts were visible on day 5....and continued growth daily.Now....If i can figure out how to keep these nuisance geese from devouring my hard work I know i will have a beautiful lawn in no time.Although the geese constantly eat the shoots down they continue to slowly thrive....PS: Any tips on how to keep these geese off my lawn?

**Q: What is the exact composition of the seed mixture would be a basic query of any reasonable customer.**
A: I am not being sarcastic in my response. I know nothing about growing crops, plants, fruit except to "stick in the ground and water it and let it get sunlight." I had a friend who I thought gave me sage advice: the plants don't read the books. So, as far as planting, I just grab some seed, chop the ground a bit, throw the seed in and VOILA! up come grass, thick, beautiful grass. Wish I could show pics. I have neighbors who told me that the grass wouldn't grow because the water would run off, so I needed to build some kind of thingy mcbeanie or whatever. I paid no attention to that mumbo jumbo, did what I described above and now their all like, "WOW! The grass is beautiful!!!"

**Q: Will this grass grow in section 9 in the south?**
A: By no means I'm I a grass expert. However I live in Newton,Mass. and this stuff really grew well here. That's my experience, hope it helps.

I wasn't expecting much but this worked great. I had a pool put in last summer turning my yard into a big mud slide. I temporarily put fake grass down on most of it. But this summer I wanted to see if I could get some grass to grow. I have a lawn guy, but I still have a deck to do so I decided to give this a try and he could do his magic if it didn't work when he starts his service later this month after the deck is up. I must admit I didn't follow many of the directions. I just sprinkled some seed a couple of weeks ago when I knew there would be a rainy week. Other than the rain the weather wasn't great, we were going from 80 degrees all the way down to 30 some nights. I figured if it didn't work I can try again. I only did about half my yard to see how it does. Two weeks later and it's growing nicely almost everywhere except for a couple of areas with really compacted clay soil. Did I mention we have horrible soil? I had another bag so I aerated those spots and raked some top soil in before I sprinkled more seed. I also added seed to more of my yard except for the area where they will be working on my deck. I am more than thrilled with the result. Excited that this year I'll have grass in my yard again.
