Review: Great little product - These toilet seat hinge mounts worked great and are absolutely the best way to keep the seat secured to the bowl without ever having to worry again about the seat working its way loose and sliding of your toilet seat some time in the middle of the night.
Review: Easy install. Solves an Annoying Problem - I recently installed an American Standard Cadet (excellent toilet btw) and was watching a YouTube video on the sliding toilet seat issue. The gent in video explained the problem…plastic screws and bolts provided do not have sufficient friction to hold seat over time…and recommended this product. Rubber housing went in easily in holes with a little soap as recommended in video. Line up the seat and tighten with #3 Phillips. I always tighten by hand and I am careful not to overtighten. The plastic round washers provided fit fine in seat cap housing and the caps on the American Standard Seat close easily on this retrofit. If you have a different brand of toilet, the installed screw heads may be too high to close the caps, or you may not need this kit at all. For example, I also have a more expensive double piston Kohler toilet and the seat is never an issue. The seat bolts are plastic but they apparently have a catch mechanism in the bolt underneath to keep the screws secure. One other thing worth mentioning, I am looking to replace a third toilet, possibly considering and entry level Toto, and I noticed that this kit is very similar to the standard install for a Toto toilet seat.

**Q: does this fit kohler?**
A: I’ve installed this on two Kohler toilets.  But it wasn’t easy.  The hole in the toilet body is small.  So you can’t push the rubber part down through the top.  But you can push the top of the rubber fitting up from underneath - with some effort and squishing of the rubber top flange to force it in the hole.  Once seated, however, it fits well and it seems to holding everything nicely.

**Q: Does this not use the wing nut on the bottom of the toilet hole?**
A: The rubber part has a threaded insert.  When you tighten the top the rubber is expanded in the hole of the toilet to hold it in place.  These worked well for my toilet seat, which wanted to always move from side to side.

**Q: Is it possible to use longer bolts with this in order to accommodate a luxe bidet and a handrail attachment? Might need extra length..**
A: Yes you could but you don't need to. As long as the rubber part fits in the hole... all the bolt does is squeeze the rubber to make it expand inside the porcelain. It's a compression fitting.

**Q: Mine are not holding the lid into place. Am I supposed to keep tightening?**
A: This is an expansion bolt, and can only expand to a certain point.  If your hole diameter is > the fully tightened up bolt, then you will need a bolt with a greater diameter.  So yes, keep turning the screw insuring that the entire black rubber expansion in not rotating while turning the screw
