They offered to not only replace my unit and provide return postage for the defective unit, they also provided a bonus for the trouble I had with this product. While I do have to have to say I still like it's sound over other mini players along with it's portability while offering great protection for my I pod classic, I was and still am disappointed by some it's build quality and how my I pod fit in the case. After the first year the cloth/silken hinge of the device started to fray. I was concerned about how that would hold up when I first got it and my first impression was correct. It isn't very durable with the two halves hanging on to each other by dear life. The power switch also had a cheap feel to it and didn't seem to slide fully to the on position, though it always turned on. I guess the price along with the sound, portability and Ipod protection is the reason I kept it. I'm looking for alternatives now since it won't hold together much longer. Hopefully I can find something of better durability that I don't have to baby. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great customer support - and great sound, too *by M***E on March 17, 2011* Amazon fulfilled my order quickly as usual, so not longer after ordering this much-anticipated iMainGo X player, I was happily opening the package and charging up the battery. Unfortunately, in my enthusiasm and haste I didn't read the instructions carefully enough. Yes, I removed the plastic strip covering the battery terminals. But no, I failed to notice that there's also a little switch next to the battery compartment that you have to turn on before you can play the unit. Yet despite my operator-error, both Amazon and iMainGo were fabulous in providing me excellent support. Amazon sent out an exchange unit without question, again speedily. And when I clicked on the support link on iMainGo's website, I found that I was rapidly engaged in helpful email interaction with Bob Roach, who handles customer support for iMainGo. Bob sent me two more units to try, both of which he had tested out before sending. When I encountered the same problem with the first of those two units, I emailed Bob again - at which point he asked me a few more detailed questions, and figured out my bonehead error regarding the tiny switch. In my defense I'll say it is hard to see without my reading glasses... ah, the perils of age. And yes, the special insert next to the battery compartment does tell you to flip the switch - in step 3. So, just take your time in unwrapping and setting up your unit, and you'll be fine. Hopefully my experience will serve as a cautionary tale to RTFM! Now all the extra units are returned, I had a chance a few days ago to take this puppy on the road for a quick 2-day trip to Boston. It sounds great! Just like the other reviews say. I'm an audiophile with great sound equipment at home, so my ears are more sensitive than some at noting the sound quality. The iMainGo X does not have as much low-end performance as my larger (and more expensive) Logitech PureFi Anywhere, but it's way smaller. The Logitech only makes sense to take along on longer trips when I check a bag - the iMainGo is perfect to pop in my computer bag and take even on short trips. Above that bottom octave, the flatness and tonal balance of the sound is comparable to the Logitech, with no tendency for vocal "honking" that smaller units or clock-radio players often exhibit. Highly recommend.
