## Description

The dbx® 12 Series were designed to meet the needs of the most demanding sound reinforcement environments, while offering the simplicity of straightforward controls. The 1231 provides standard features like dual-channels, 31 1/3 octave bands, ISO frequency centers, +/- 12 dB input gain range, and switchable 40Hz/18 dB per octave low-cut filters, but also includes other insightful features. These include 45 mm faders; selectable +/-6dB or +/-15dB boost/cut range for precise gain adjustments; XLR, barrier strip, and 1/4'' TRS connectors for installation ease; balanced inputs and outputs for quiet operation; and chassis/signal ground lift capabilities for quick hum isolation. The visionary design of the dbx 12 Series makes your job easier. The dbx 12 Series Equalizers were precision engineered to provide years of maintenance-free operation in any application. The magnetically isolated transformer, electronically balanced/unbalanced inputs and servo balanced/unbalanced outputs, RF-filtered inputs and outputs, and power-off hard-wire relay bypass with 2 second power up delay were steps our engineers took to ensure compatibility for all installations. Only the best components were utilized, yielding a 10Hz to 50kHz frequency response, greater than 90dB SNR (ref +4dBu), less than 0.005% THD +Noise (1kHz at +4dBu), and interchannel crosstalk of less than -80dB from 20Hz to 20kHz. All this attention to detail is contained in a 3U steel/aluminum chassis.

Review: A very good component - I wasn't expecting the fine quality of this eq both its sturdiness and its eq ability.. I have good monitors and good headphones and I don't hear a "lick" of any white noise. The sliders are well built and whether you up the sliders for more gain or lower the sliders for lower game, it doesn't sound like something is missing or something is added I'm a blues musician.. and have 3 resonators.. for you reading this that owns a resonator.. you know the difficulties in get an even sound..The DBX 1215 puts me in the drivers seat.. there is one caveat .. the buttons for the low cut and button for a smaller or larger ability (sliders) you need to have something around it like a pen to push them in because they are recessed. I thought something was wrong with my unit.. but evidently its that way so as not the push em' in by mistake.. Thats the only con.. I always stayed away from an eq because I thought it would be obvious.. and I would just use the positioning of the with acoustics or amp with some very decent miikes... I still do that of course but now I feel I have complete control. Great product.!
Review: Knot bad - Knot bad sound

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what are you selling. Your add says a DBX 1231 Your picture is a 2231 which is it**
A: Jeff, the Amazon catalog has the wrong image. Image feedback request has been sent to Amazon to fix this issue. This product is the DBX 1231 Dual 31 Band Graphic EQ. Thanks Jeff-Pro Audio Land

**Q: can each channel handle a stereo input?**
A: Yes
You can apply either channel of your sources L/R output to the 2131's Channel 1/2 input. It doesn't matter, as long as you keep your signal flow SEPARATED and in series. I never use RCA connectors. This device was primarily designed for Balanced 3 pin audio input &outputs. The use of RCA connectors only minimizes system hum & noise. This defeats the purpose of this devices noise reduction circurty. DBX realizes this. That is why they did not make RCA connections available on this device. 98% of consumer audio systems (home) use RCA connectors not Professionally balanced 3 pin audio connectors. That is the beauty of this device. Don't try to mix apples and oranges. If the connectors are not there they are not meant to be. Hope this helps.n Doc

**Q: Are the sliders illuminated?**
A: No they are not illuminated

Knot bad sound

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great investment
*by A***E on February 21, 2021*

Oh my God, I bought a graphic equalizer! Not for my system (nothing wrong with it), my room or my music. I bought it for me and my 78 year old ears. I have a recent audiogram that suggest that I might as sell my tweeters for all the good they do me. My downward slope begins about 2k and its down quite a bit at 8k where the reading stops. Besides my audiogram I have noticed the sounds of certain instruments diminished or absent in familiar recordings. For example, I used to hear a lightly struck cymbal on my recording of Ravel’s La Valse. Its just not there. A harpsichord is a no show on some early music. I bought the dbx 1231 Dual-Channel, 31-Band Equalizer. It meets my absolute requirement: balanced in and balanced out. I worried about a number of things before my purchase: would the music sound unnatural, would it add a significant level of noise, would it diminish other sonic attributes such as sound staging, dynamic range? Would it distort on loud sudden passages, would massed string tone be strident? Well I am greatly relieved. The overall sonic performance seems to be improved. Among other qualities, the sound stage seems a bit more transparent. I can hear more of the hall within which classical music was recorded. I feel that I am now hearing what I’ve been missing for the last few years. I‘m only boosting 2, 3, 5,6,8,10 and 12k, the first five by about 4db and the latter two by 6db., The effect of the EQ is to restore the sound of old recordings to what I heard 35 years ago before my high frequencies took a nose dive. Jazz at the Pawnshop is a really good example of this. The unit itself is easy to use and is rather flexible. Just take your XRL cable from your source or preamp and plug it into the XRL input. Install a XRL cable from the unit’s output and install it into your amp’s input. P12 power plant, Ayon 35 CD/SACD (tube output stage), Ayon Spirit PA amp, Klipsch Forte IIIs.
