The helmet shows natural wear from use, including light rust and minor dents, making it a prized collectible for history buffs and professionals alike. ## Description Original Item: Recently acquired from the Finnish Government, these helmets are 100% genuine German made WWII type M40 steel combat helmets, produced by German WWII helmet manufacturer Hans R mer Fabrik in Neu-Ulm (Donau-Freiberg). Supplied under special contract for the Finnish Army in 1955, these have become known as the M40/55 helmet. However, these helmets were made in the same factory, on the same machines and by some of the very same people that produced helmets for Germany in WWII. They are nearly identical to WWII issue M40 s, with the classic rolled edge, correct steel thickness, and pressed ventilation holes. It is also believed that some are WWII M40's with the markings "sanitized".The leather liners and chin straps are Finnish Army issue; styles vary, as some helmets in use up until the early 1970s. These liners may also have required drilling additional liner holes in the helmet. We sell these helmets based on the interior liner size, not shell size. Usually, size 55/56cm liners are in 62cm shells, size 57/58cm liners are in 64/66cm shells, and size 59/60cm liners are in 66/68cm shells. We cannot honor requests for specific shell sizes. Please measure your helmet prior to ordering a WWII Style German M-31 liner, as most likely you will need to get a smaller size liner than the Finnish Liner in the helmet.Styles and colors (Field Grey, Field Green) may vary slightly so please see photos for variation examples. Each helmet is offered in good to very good condition, but will show storage wear, minor paint chips and scratches, and occasionally a small ding but all are free of major dents or imperfections. These are original surplus helmets that were in service for decades. **Q: I just bought this ítem. I need you to send me the largest size you have. If you have to pay more, let me know before sending.** A: The Helmet shell size is not guaranteed, only the size ink stamp on the liner in the helmet. Also the liners in the helmets run about 2cm in circumference smallet than what they are marked. For instance, a 57cm marked liner will not fit ypur head if your head measures 57cm. I bought two and they were at least 2cm smaller than marked. You will receive a 64 size shell, a 64 size shell will only fit a maximum of a size 57 reproduction German M31 liner, no larger. **Q: Only one size** A: We offer many sizes ranging from a 55cm to a 60 cm, they are each listed separately. **Q: Is it real?** A: Yes it is a real German Helmet.
