The listing does say this version uses RCA/CVBS output, and I did not find HDMI mentioned in the product text. The confusing part is that the brain has an HDMI-style connector, which I naturally assumed was a standard HDMI monitor output. It is not. I tested it with a known-good mini-HDMI cable and multiple displays, and got no HDMI output. The live view only worked through the yellow RCA/CVBS output. On my harness, that RCA/AV cable was not clearly labeled, which made troubleshooting harder. Once I found it and connected it to an RCA input, the live menu and camera view appeared. The RCA image quality is poor, even though the USB recordings are much better. Buyers need to understand that the live display quality and the recorded video quality are not the same thing. The system is not completely nonfunctional, but the connector labeling and documentation are confusing. I would not recommend the RCA/CVBS version if you expect a clear live monitor image. Review: Rca version bad image quality. - I really wanted this to work. The one I purchased was the Rca output. The HDMI Version may be better.. However, after many many hours of testing this on 8 different monitors using the RCA cable, the image quality on this is almost unusable. Judging by the reviews the bad ones purchased the Rca output version and the good reviews purchased the HDMI. Wish it would of been better.
