There was a little bit of a learning curve on where to grab the feeder and how to hold & lift it, but it didn't take long to figure out the best way. I have since used it for various things around the house, such as getting an extension cord positioned underneath a large king-size bed. So it's definitely been worth the cost of the tool for me. It folds up easily for storage. You have to make sure, though, that you have it secured when in the extended position. I have it collapse a couple of times because I didn't "pull it down" tightly prior to starting to lift it. (User error and no damage done.) Because of its extreme length, I would say that it has limited use, unless you have a specific situation like mine. I do not think it will hold extreme weight because of its length (it would 'bow'). I'm not sure how much the filled bird feeder weighs but I would think no more than ten pounds if that. I am very pleased with the purchase of this. I had hand surgery and didn’t have the use of my left hand for a while. My brother installed an owl box for me when he helped with after surgery. We didn’t know at the time that cedar shavings needed to be placed in the bottom. So, since I can’t use a ladder and have to get up to the box that is at last 15 feet up, I bought and used this.
