They def rust and you have to keep an eye on them , my last pair rusted out and while I was tying my rig down it broke. I only run in saltwater, and they're never submerged , it's just being around the environment, or maybe from water draining off boat while towing IDK , but they are not saltwater friendly whatsoever , and you'll get around 5-6 months as long as you don't attach them while underwater lol **Q: I have 3 ft. From boat to trailer. Are these adjustable to fit?** A: I'm not exactly sure (I'd check if my boat were kept here) but I believe they would work. I've got a shorter length but also ha e plenty of "slack" in the adjustable straps.
