Not only does the wetsuit keep my body toasty warm, I was amazed how buoyant I was in the water and how easily I glided through the water. I was also impressed with the craftsmanship and design. High quality through and through! My first swim in open water with the Vortex was my fastest swim to date! I highly recommend the XTERRA Vortex sleeveless if you're a Tri athlete or you just like invigorating cold, open water swimming. The second best part of my experience with XTERRA was their supreme costumer service!!!! I originally ordered the Volt sleeveless, but due to a backorder they had to upgraded my order to the more expensive Vortex sleeveless at NO EXTRA COST. Their customer service representative (Kris) was a pleasure to interact with and she shipped the replacement product to me via FedEX without question. She even offered me a free T-shirt or hat for my troubles. I'm a surfer, not a triathalon'er, so my needs are different but this fills those needs perfectly. I can't stand all the rubber on my arms in a normal wetsuit. You lose so much paddle power stretching the rubber around. And those newer 'chest zip' suits... Brutal to get on and off. This thing is great. I've been out in cool'ish water 62-64 or so. And yes my arms get a little cold, but my core body temp never drops. The black skin gets HOT in the sun, it's awesome. I stayed out over an hour last time. I feel like this would be good all the way down to 60F for over an hour. And TBH, I don't want to surf when it's colder than that. So this is basically my go-to suit from now on.Another bonus, if you bike or ride a moped to the beach, with a normal wetsuit, you'll freeze on the bike home. With this wetsuit the whole thing is made from the windproof "skin" that normal surfing wetsuits only use on the chest and back panel. So you can leave it on and be warm on the ride home too, a little wind won't freeze you out.Bottom line: My core is warm like a fullsuit, but I can paddle like I'm in trunks. The wetsuit is well made and keeps me warm. I have used this to swim in water down to 55 degrees and my body has stayed warm. I use this almost daily for tri training in open waters and have had no issues with it at all. It is designed well. I can get in to it and zipped up by myself fairly easily. The wetsuit moves well when swimming or running and is not too hard to get out of during transition phases.
