Our deck faces west. Couldnt be more happy with this umbrella. We looked at an 11 ft cantilever umbrella at Costco in store for $679.99 and this one seems better built. Only thing that seemed less quality was the fabric is more nylon than others with sunbrella fabric. It even came with lights which was an unsuspecting bonus. Love that it rotates 360 degrees so we can find the perfect amount of shade. It stays locked in to place once you adjust the rotation. The 5 vertical tilt options also help with dialing in the shade. Great product and would recommend for anyone in the market for one. We used the 19 inch sunnyglade 4 piece base filled with water. So my husband bent it out with pliers and made it work. Which, surprisingly, the neck was stupid thin and questioned how the heck it’s going to last with the heaviness is the umbrella. He asked me what the reviews were for this product because for the price, he did expect something sturdier. So!!!! After putting it together and jury rigging, we cranked the umbrella up. Now, I know it says the base plates are separate, but doesn’t say you need them when you do!!!! Very disappointing that we couldn’t even open it without my husband standing on the base and applying his weight. I had intentions to eventually buy the base, but wanted to make sure I liked the umbrella first. Poor advertisement that the base is optional, it’s required! My only positive part of the review is that I really like the umbrella canvas!! Very disappointed and was super excited about this purchase.
