We cut our Salt Blocks no less than 2" thick, this dramatically increases the lifespan of the block because it can absorb more heat over long periods of time. Thinner salt plates are more likely to break, crack or even explode over extense heat. To use as a skillet, you must heat the block for about an hour before cooking. Low Heat: 20 min. Medium Heat: 20 min. High Heat: 20 min. Sprinkle water on top of the block, if it sizzles, it is ready for cooking.
