They seem sturdy enough, and for the average user, I am betting they will last as long as the cables. I have attached some photos, as I was not 100% certain as to how large a set of conductors you can fit in these. The answer is, plenty big. Aside from maybe industrial applications, the connector that that the cable goes into, will hold the largest conductor out there. Very first thing you want to do, is remove one of the rubber handle covers, and slide it down over the end of your cablr. After you strip the end of the conductor (aka, wire or cable) stick the bare end under the smaller tab and the insulated portion under the larger tab. Using pliers, large crimpers, visr, etc. Crimp the two tab pieces down, until snug. Place the newly crimped assembly inside the handle of the clamp, and use the provided screw and nut, to secure. Finally, slide the rubber handle cover, back up over the clamp. Turning about $200 worth of equipment from junk to useful tools.They are heavy duty and I'm pretty sure the only thing that isn't metal on these are the grips that slide over the handles. I had read in another review to make sure you take the grip off that connects to the cable and slide it on the cable first and then connect.
