We have tried several glasses, but they always seem to break easily. We had two sets of 12 and were down to a handful between the two, so we decided to look for some new glasses to replace them. These "beer" glasses are excellent to use for just every day, like a glass of ice water or tea. We bought two sets of these, and now we have plenty for when we have guests over for dinner. We got rid of all our old glasses. I knocked one of these over on our granite island, and to my surprise it didn't even chip. No chip, no crack, nothing. I'm sure it would break if you dropped it on a tile floor, but these glasses are very crack and chip resistant from a porcelain sink or a granite counter top. They're just perfect for every day use. We love them. UPDATE 6/12/15: I've knocked several of these glasses over on our granite counter top and in the ceramic cast iron sink and they have not chipped or cracked at all. They're VERY sturdy. I'm sure they would break from a fall from higher up, but just knocking them over in the sink didn't didn't.
