I mig'd a bit in highschool 20 years ago, that's about it. So I don't think I can blame the quality of the welds on the machine. Maybe the rods. But the machine worked well. It was easy to put together and get started. It's incredibly light weight and was comfortable to throw over my shoulder with the strap it came with. I was fixing a crack and welding two quarter inch plates together. It had more than enough power to weld them. I was using around 200 amps. It never triggered any duty cycle that stopped the welding, though I did trip the breaker in the garage once. The rods didn't go very far. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if its the quality, or just the wrong size rod for the job. Either way, you'll want to order extra right away. The arc started easy enough, but I also took time to prep the material first, so that may have helped. Overall I'm happy with the purchase after the first use. I'll update if my opinion changes on it after using it more. Review: For the price/size. It does pretty good. If you're expecting to do bigger 3/16" and up welds. You obviously want a bigger more powerful welder. I have never welded before but had some furniture that needed some joints repaired. This is simple to use and after watching a couple of YouTube videos I made my first weld. It worked well and after some practice definitely feel comfortable working with it. I found I enjoyed welding so looking to purchase some better equipment in the future for larger projects but this works well for patio furniture repair and repairing some tools.
