The two sides did fit together after some difficulty but they don't stabilize the ladder, so we had to drill holes and connect it to the actual pool. The steps on both sides are a little stretch with my 5' stature. It took about 3 hours to finally complete. I love it now! Everytime I try to roll the cover foward it pops out the backside preventing you from being able to open it. When adding the additional base for height it feels super flimsy. Im only keeping it so that my kids can swim in the pool that we just paid so much money to have a new liner put in and multiple things fixed.
