Enough light and air pass through the chain as can be seen in the photo with the door closed. Installed by drilling into the brickwork on the outside of the house to avoid drilling into the UpVC door frames. Dog is a little hesitant in passing through the chains at the moment until he gets used to weight of the chains. Care needs to be taken when closing the door to avoid jamming the chains. Will need more time to establish how weather proof the chains are and whether the number of flies getting into the kitchen is reduced.
