My Father’s Dragon: The Newbery Honor-winning classic about a daring dragon rescue! When Elmer Elevator hears about the baby dragon being held captive on Wild Island, he knows just what to do. First, he packs his knapsack with important supplies, like chewing gum, lollipops, and lots of rubber bands. Then he stows away on a ship headed for the island. Along the way, Elmer meets many exotic animals. Each tries to sidetrack him, but Elmer has some tricks up his sleeve . . . or more precisely, in his knapsack. One way or another, he will rescue the dragon! Elmer and the Dragon: In this sequel to My Father’s Dragon. Elmer and Boris’s island hopping adventures continue. The Dragons of Blueland: In this third and final installment of the classic My Father’s Dragon trilogy, Boris, the baby dragon, is excited to be heading home to Blueland and looks forward to reuniting with his family. First published in 1948, My Father’s Dragon has delighted generations of young readers. It is classic storytelling at its finest.AN ALA NOTABLE BOOK A COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS TEXT EXEMPLAR IN APPENDIX B Review: Great books for boys - These books got my boys into reading and I’m so glad they did. Perfect for boys. Read them before bed time. Review: A Classic - This is one of the books I regularly give the kids I know when they get to ~6-7. My 2nd grade teacher read this to our class, it has stayed with me a long time. The story reads like a fairytale with very matter of fact language & pacing. The ways Elmer outwits the animals on Wild Island are very charming - he's just really smart and brave, so he can beat a rhino with toothpaste and a lion with a hairbrush. It's so imaginative and akin to kids playing "pretend". Also, there are SO MANY illustrations. I remember loving them when I was a kid but I had forgotten just how many there are! There's at least one full page illustration, too (the tigers). They are very timeless and there are so many animals and they're all drawn great. Of course as a kid, you're most interested in the Animals and the DRAGON and, usually, books will not have enough of either. But not this one, there's practically a picture every third page. You can have a lot of fun reading this together. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #31,778 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #1,722 in Classic Literature & Fiction #12,160 in Children's Books (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 out of 5 stars 329 Reviews | ## Images ![My Father's Dragon Series (Set of THREE Books: My Father's Dragon, Elmer and the Dragon, and the Dragons of Blueland) (My Father's Dragon) [Paperback] Ruth Stiles Gannett - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81huG360pXL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great books for boys *by J***N on April 14, 2026* These books got my boys into reading and I’m so glad they did. He loved the story and would beg every night for another chapter. Except for the night we read about the mean gorilla. Otherwise, he was delighted and cared deeply for Elmer and Boris. I plan on reading these stories to our next child when they are the right age. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/72258747-my-fathers-dragon-series-set-of-three-books-my-fathers](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/72258747-my-fathers-dragon-series-set-of-three-books-my-fathers) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-04*
