Belts and braces, an old school idea.My previous drive died suddenly and this was the best cost/size value I could find from a reputable vendor. In the past, I have had trouble with Seagate drives on my various Mac's, but this one worked immediately without a single problem. It is now handling all the relevant backups (there are several including some cloud stuff) and my music. It is quiet and, so far as I can tell, faster than the drive it replaced. It also seems to be interfering far less in other devices and their operations than the old drive did. That may be, however, because the old drive was complaining about being ill before it died completely and this new one is just being "normally" competent.I gave it 5 stars because it is doing what it is supposed to do without causing any trouble. Assuming it doesn't die a week from now, then it was a good buy. It is doing what it's supposed to do. The speed is fast, but a bit of rumbling when in use. Nothing too major, just put it on a piece of cloth and it should absorb some noise. The LED light is bright (from the inside), so if you have the HD in your bedroom, it might disturb your sleep. I got a 22TB HD at about $400 after tax. So it was about $18CAD per TB, pretty inexpensive compared to what I've bought before, 8TB for $200.
