**Q: Do you need a specific crimping tool or will channel locks work?**
A: I believe a special crimping tool could make attaching them quicker but, I do ok with using standard pliers that have a rounded jaw.

**Q: Can these aglets be used on ribbon material to make shoe laces?**
A: Qualified yes.
If the ribbon material fits inside the aglet (might need to roll it up slightly) and is large enough to get a good crimp, then you can use these on it.   
How well the result would actually work as a shoelace would depend on how strong the ribbon material is.

If you don't have one already, strongly suggest the crimping tool to make consistent, better looking, crimps.

**Q: Can be used on leather laces?**
A: Yes, but I was not satisfied with this product... even with the tool to close the metal it was not neat finish.
