But there are some things to consider. These come with the spacer which I found I had to use in a few places (due to door hinge crowding). The included spacer is SUPER - it literally snaps onto the pneumatic device so it's easy to handle on the install. BUT here's the thing with these devices. You need a near zero-clearance drill - well, TIGHT clearance - to pilot the holes. I have such a device (flexible shaft with hex drive), but if you don't have such a device you're not going to be able to snug them up into the corner. If that's an issue for you, choose one of the other style of devices that allows a diagonal screw pilot-hole and then you can drill those holes with about any hand-drill (I installed two such diagonal pilot-hole devices in the home so I've seen it both ways). Still I love these particular devices and the tightness of access when drilling is the only reason I did not select five-star rating - they are easily adjustable and work great with narrow (lightweight) doors (11.5" x 44") and just as well with bigger doors (20.5" x 24"). Oh, there was one other rather odd thing. In the bag of devices I rec'd some had only the short screw, some and only the long screw, and some had both screws ??? I went in search of retrofit hinges that wouldn't need a lot of redrilling or refitting, and I ran across this little gadget. It seemed too good to be true, but with so many positive reviews, I decided to give it a try.When they arrived (I bought a 15-pack), I took one out and pressed on the grey plunger with my thumb. I was skeptical. Way too hard to press. I didn't think there was any way my self-slamming kitchen cabinet doors were going to be able to work with these. I installed one on the out-of-the-way door above the refrigerator so the hole wouldn't be visible if I had to remove it. My fears were quickly eased.After holding the device in place, I used an awl to mark where the screw would go in the cabinet frame. I drilled a small pilot hole and drove in the screw (I used a flexible shaft on my drill for both drilling the pilot hole and driving the screw so I could be parallel to the top of the cabinet). Easy-peasy. About five minutes for each door.Be sure your current cabinet hinges are self-closing (mine were more like "self-slamming"). This won't work with a regular hinge since it requires the force of the self-closing hinge to provide pressure on the soft-close plunger.Installing 14 of these took about an hour and a half. Installs on both left- or right-hinging doors.It's been a few weeks since I installed them, and I still get a kick out of trying to intentionally slam one of my kitchen cabinets closed, only to have it quickly stop and slowly close the last couple of inches. Unfortunately, my bathroom vanities all have soft-close hinges, so I don't get to install any more of these.A great device at a great price, and much less expensive (and easier!) than replacing all the cabinet hinges.
