It continually measures velocities of your rifle, pistol, shotgun (slugs), arrows or pellets up to 100 yards depending upon the size of the bullet. Smaller bullets do not track as far as large bullets. Multiple distances for velocity display are user definable on the unit. LabRadar measures velocities up to 3,900 f.p.s. with 0.1% accuracy using six AA batteries. Labradar is not dependant on any light source and can be used indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions. I have been trying to get it to detect supersonic .223 and can not, even with the help of the appropriate positioning of the unit directly by Richard @ Labradar. I am going to have to figure out something with the external trigger port to get this thing to hopefully pick up my shots when suppressed. **Q: Are your results effected by other shooters in close proxmity to this lab radar unit** A: No, but my range is not crowded. I've had shooters 8 feet away with no problems. I've had two unrelated learning experiences. First, you must be aware of downrange structure that can cause the radar to lose track of the bullet. My range has a berm at 50 yards with brush and grass, nearly in-line with the 100 yard berm. When I shoot at the 100 yard target, I frequently don't get a track. The radar loses the bullet because of the 50 yard berm. Second, your bench must be stable. If it vibrates when you shoot, you will probably lose track. Both items are mentioned in the manual, but I mention them because of the importance of understanding how the unit works. **Q: Does this chonograph work well with handguns?** A: Labradar works great with handguns of all calibers. The muzzle of the handgun placed aproximately 6-18 to the side of the Labradar. When the shot is fired, it will provide the muzzle velocity as well as five downrange velocities at the distances you selected. The users manual is downloadable from the manufacturers website for further information and proper muzzle placement. **Q: How well will the unit work using a muzzleloader and bullets with sabots?** A: Contact infinition directly for god question it should be able to differentiate between the two as sabots scrub speed quicker than the projectile itself. We use sabot with our fsp fragment to test armors and their more advance JB500 does well at reconciling background noise plus there is a graphical representation so you can get ensure the trace.
