There is an elastic waist band, and the sides open and close with small velcro squares about 6” apart that hold tight so there are no gaps when you are walking. The legs are wide and I would describe the fit as roomy, but not baggy. The fabric is not heavy and is of good quality. These pants are machine washable and can go in the dryer and come out with no wrinkles.
