There are a lot of other fiber neck pillows on the market today where there is more give to the pillow. If you have a herniated disc, consider a traction pillow where the pillow will give your neck a gentle stretch as well when you are sleeping on your side or back. Sides seem way too high.** A: I sleep on my side most of the night and it seemed too high at first for me too but my neck must have gotten used to it and now I don't notice which side of the pillow I sleep on (I flip it every night). I have slept with my head in the middle between the two sides and on each side. I can't sleep on any other kind of pillow without neck aches so this pillow is a life saver for me. I've never had a neck injury, I just noticed my neck being stiff all the time and cracking when I would drive. I now sleep solely with this pillow. I see a chiropractor for some skeletal issues. He has me roll up a hand towel and place behind my neck then lie on my back with it for ten minutes to help better the curvature in my neck. It’s a very relaxing exercise for me as by starting with knees bent and then straightening legs, it actually stretches the muscles the length of your body. Works better lying on the bed than a floor mat. Anyway- this pillow mimics that and I find it quite helpful. You really do need to take it slow at first- follow the instructions and you should be fine! Update: I know it’s only a short time later, but I am using this pillow only now and was able to get away from my older memory foam pillow completely. This is now the PERFECT pillow. I am tall in stature so purchased the full size. It’s very comfy as stated below. It is quite firm, but provides great relief and you get used to the firmness. Buy it and try it out - you have nothing to lose except for your pain. Love this pillow. I still get neck pain on and off so I switch between this pillow and my shredded foam pillow. I haven’t had this that long so maybe that’s why. However, I find that this pillow cradles my head and is so soothing and comforting for me. It supports my neck well without leaving me with a kink in my neck the next morning. I am comfortable with it no matter position I sleep in.
