It's a very good weight, nice size for both twin and queen sized beds. The only problem ive had is that some of the squares have combined because the thread in between them broke, but that happened after years of use and isn't a big deal at all. You can wash in the washer. It is heavy so you might want to stagger it between other clothes to balance out the washer bin. I don't put mine in the dryer, but it air dries relatively fast.
