Matter of fact: I could not get it to work when this was connected directly to my laptop. ..After alot of investigation and stumbling... I found a very small blurb mentioning usb hub (2.0)... Connected an old usb 1 to 4 and Connected this to 1 of the 4 usb2.0 jack's and viola!! It work's!! [ A Flawless-Victory ] **Q: I have a windows 10 hp spectre and this device will not connect. the light stays red. any suggestions?** A: Make sure you're connecting using a 2.0 USB port on your HP Spectre laptop. I went to this site https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP and downloaded the latest driver available on both of my computers (Windows 10 64 bit and an older Acer laptop with Windows 7 64 bit) Once the driver was installed, the EX adapter worked as it should.
