Review: Essential item - Came on time and does as described if used as directed.
Review: Does What it is Designed to do if You Use it Correctly - I use an EC meter to check the salinity level of nutrients for my indoor grow. This test liquid will check a meter for EC as well as PPM and it works well for that purpose. I prefer this over the packets you mix yourself because it's laboratory grade and made using pure RO water. So unless you have access to RO water, this it a better option then mixing your own. On that alone I can recommend this product for checking your meter's accuracy and recommend getting the 342 PPM solution as well, so you can test against a range. If you are interested in a little advice on using this product, read on. It does not take much to contaminate this liquid and throw off the accuracy. And yes, I realize the manufacturer states you can put the meter right into the wide mouth bottle, but IMO you take a chance on contaminating the test solution over time even if you rinse it in distilled water between uses. So you need to make sure you pour out what you need to test with, and not pour it back into the container. I use those small paper cups that you might use in a bathroom. They are inexpensive and good to have for calibration checking and also for holding samples of the water you are testing with your meter. If you use the same container all the time and don't rinse it well, it can build up salts in the form of solids that might raise the EC/PPM levels of the water you are testing. It's also a good idea to keep some distilled water around to rinse off your meter between uses and change that water often to avoid cross contamination. It may sound like overkill and a little paranoia on my part, but it really comes down to how accurate your readings need to be. In my case I want the readings to be be +/- maybe 2%. So if you take into account the accuracy of these meters, which is anywhere from a 2-5% deviation, having good calibration solution and a good process for keeping things uncontaminated ensures you are testing the meter without introduction a significant margin of error. As I mentioned this liquid will test for PPM levels as well as EC. I prefer using EC levels to measure salinity versus PPM which is just a mathematical equation (programmed into the meter) using EC, which is the base number. So measuring using EC is more accurate. Although for measuring drinking water levels and fish tank water, PPM is probably fine to use. Hope this helped some. The End

## Features

- 【H-80 Waterproof PH and Thermometer】PH-80 is an economical and reliable ph meter (aka ph pen or ph tester), which is ideal for testing applications such as hydroponics, gardening, pools and spas, aquariums and leaf tanks, water ionizers, drinking water, boiler and cooling towers, drainage and more. PH-80 can measure pH and temperature
- One-touch Automatic Digital Calibration: Regular calibration is not possible to accurately measure, so regular calibration is required. Large LCD Display and Water Resistant: Compared to the test paper and test liquid, this product has a large number that is easy to read and is water resistant, so you can use it with confidence
- Large LCD Display and Water Resistant: Compared to the test paper and test liquid, this product has a large number that is easy to read and is water resistant, so you can use it with confidence
- [Precautions for storage] When storing the electrode (where it is measured), it is necessary to moisten the electrode with an electrode storage liquid. The storage solution is also OK for other companies. You need to use a fresh and clean solution. Salt will disappear but it is not a malfunction

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between the 342 ppm & 1000 ppm calibration solution? I'm not sure which one to buy for my TDS meter**
A: If you are checking your water you should use the 342 ppm to calibrate as most city and well waters can run anywhere from 175-400..
If you are doing hydroponics and need to add juice (Nutz) to the water it is best to use 1000pmm cause you will be reading 800 - 2000 ppm.

**Q: Does the 1000 ppm = 2mS/cm?**
A: Believe so - the label says 2000 µs, guessing they mean 2000 µs/cm, so that'd be 2 ms/cm

**Q: What TDS meter will the 1000 ppm calibration solution be compatible**
A: its just a control substance. any meter that can measure TDS in the 1000ppm range will work with this.

**Q: I’m very confused, i have a ubante tds meter and i stuck it in this 1000ppm solution and it reads exactly 500ppm. is my meter off exactly 500ppm?**
A: You are correct, your meter is off exactly 500 ppm, below is a possible solution (calibrate your meter):
1) Check that the meter is set to the same salt/ionic solid as the calibration solution: (NaCl, rather than say KCl, MgCl2 or other setting allowed by the meter).
2) Before measuring greater than or equal to 0 ppm with a tds meter you will need to immerse the entire tip (containing two metal electrodes) into a first glass of distilled water (clean and dry and rinsed once with distilled water), found in a grocery store, to make sure the tip is clean. Insert the tds meter into a second glass (clean and dry and rinsed once with distilled water) of distilled water (other than that used to rinse the meter tip) and verify that the reading is 0 ppm. If the meter does not read 0ppm then refer to the tds meter manual to manually set the reading to 0 ppm. This is the first calibration point for the meter.
3) Once again, rinse the meter tip in the second glass of distilled water, then air dry the meter tip and then insert the meter tip into a portion (enough to immerse the meter tip and setting aside for future calibrations, based on the expiration date of the calibration solution) of the 1000 ppm solution poured into a third clean dry glass (that was rinsed with distilled water and then air dried). The reading should be close to 1000 ppm if the meter is calibrated correctly.
4) If the meter does not display 1000 ppm then refer to the tds meter instructions and read how to manually reset the reading on the meter to the calibration solution concentration value of 1000 ppm. This is the second calibration point.
Now verify the meter functions as set by performing the following operations:
5) Once the meter is calibrated, rinse the meter tip in the second glass of distilled water in step 2), dispose of the water after removing the meter as the second glass is contaminated with 1000 ppm droplets, rinse with distilled water and refill with distilled water then immerse the meter tip into the second glass of distilled water and verify the reading is 0 ppm.
6) Rinse the meter tip in the second glass of distilled water, air dry the meter tip and, immerse the tip in the 1000 ppm solution and verify the reading is 1000 ppm.
7) To store the meter away, rinse the meter tip in distilled water and air dry.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to calibrate TDS meter :)
*by S***N on August 8, 2019*

Hope it works cause no way to properly ensure how accurate it is unless taken to a hydroponics store to use professionals TDS testers and compare stores recommended tds calibration solution. I am trusting this solution and will continue to use. Plant food seems to be making the plants healthier so plant foods ppm/tds is must be good.
