I grind my own whole wheat flour, and these hard red winter wheat berries are perfect. When milled, they look as they should -- like typical brown whole wheat flour. ("Red" refers to the kind of wheat, not the actual color, even though the brown has red undertones.) As long as the hulls aren't cracked, these wheat berries will last for years.
