It was time to replace. This is on the pricey side, but is something I use at least once per day. Cheap, if it lasts me another decade! Stuff NEVER sticks! I love cooking rice and oatmeal in it! The only downside is the wooden handle, which is a little rough. I haven't used it in the dishwasher either, so that is not the cause. I would bet in the future, it will require a little sandpaper to smooth out. Recent events regarding its durability β€” and the company’s response to the issue β€” prompted me to weigh in all these years later. Better late than never, I suppose.By my rough calculation, I have used my Berndes to cook well over 5000 dishes, from oatmeal to sauces to veggies to hard-boiled eggs. It performed flawlessly, and I rewarded it by always washing it by hand. The only problem is that in the last year or so, I began see some wear on the inside edge where the bottom met the sides. At first I thought it might be stuck-on food, but then I realized it was the coating which was wearing away.I contacted the company last week and at their direction, sent some photos and answered a few questions. I heard back today with the tracking number of the replacement unit which will be here within 48 hours. I couldn't imagine a more timely or appropriate customer service response β€” and one which was delivered in good spirits.Thanks to gifts from my daughter and nephew, I've now lost my heart to All-Clad, but I will be delighted to receive and use my replacement Berndes.
