The shelf doesn't quite allow the large iron to sit square but needs to be angled in slightly. If it was a quarter inch deeper our large iron would fit better but I understand the reasoning for the size. I'm glad I finally did this project. It is indeed well built but also has an extra feature, a shelf to store the iron, starch, and spray water bottle. My other one had a small board for sleeves and other narrow garment pieces so that was part of my wish list. This one has that feature as well. The wood is beautiful, so much so I’m not going to paint over the lovely wood grains. I’ll either lightly stain it or simply seal it! It arrived perfectly intact and earlier than expected. I am so happy with everything about this purchase. It is solid wood with DOVETAIL joints! The product functions exactly as described. The swiveling ironing board is sturdy and quiet.
