I can put my purse, a change of clothes, a snack, my kindle, etc, all inside it, and it can still fit under the seat in front of me. The zippers go either direction for ease of access. The outside pocket on the bag is perfect for holding travel documents, and is designed to fit over the handle of your checked bag as well, which makes everything easier.
