If you have light or white hair it shows up better. Dark hair it just tones. When I put it on for 10 to 15 minutes it fades pretty quickly. With my white/grey/brown hair (I'm 68) I leave it on for 30 minutes. It is bright purple for the first wash or two, and then fades over the next 6 weeks until the color hardly shows, and then I repeat. For the first week or so, when I wash and rinse my hair some color rinses out. And as other reviews state, it stains what it touches, including grout and an acrylic tub/sink. Comet cleanser or other bleached based cleaners are your friend. **Q: Will this work without bleaching?** A: It will tint but works way better with bleaching **Q: Will this work on dark hair?** A: I have super cooldark brown hair I bleached high lights then dyed them purple. If I use this will it make purple more purple and not so much the almost black? I just wanted to maintain low lights???? **Q: Can I use this to maintain semi permanent dyes?** A: Yes! A bright color dye like red, pink or purple will wash out in about a month. However using this shampoo you can maintain that color as long as you use it! It will continue to renew the color keeping it vibrant.
