I walked uphill, on slippery, rocky and sandy trails in the lovely Scottish Highlands without having to break them in and felt very comfortable and secure in them. Towards late afternoon, when my feet felt more snug inside them, they still did not rub. They're good looking too! These are wonderful boots at a very good price but could do with a bit more ankle support to make them perfect, hence 4 stars. They seem very robust and only time will tell if they stay so after more hikes. Right now, I can say I am delighted with them. They are comfortable straight from the box. I highly recommend them. I don't wear them for walks though I have weak joints and they are supportive but yet soft.
