The scanning is not with a camera which makes it super fast. The camera ones are awful (I'm looking at you shopify). I didn't think I could love a POS system until I used this thing. You can keep it in your pocket. It's light. You can print to a common receipt printer or issue e-receipts. It is great. Get the protective case. It won't handle getting dropped. Cracked the screen on one of these in the first week. We bought cases and haven't had any break since. If your square account is doing decent sales (I think the Square site says above $250K), you might be able to get one for "free." You have to agree to a 2 year plan but if you bail, you pay a prorated amount for the device. I love that I can get replacements quickly on desertcart or Best Buy stocks them if I need it really quick! Review: Easy - Easy enough. I bought this as an upgrade from the Square Terminal. This Handheld version seems just as heavy as the terminal, and is definitely heavier than my iPhone 17. It works just as easily as the terminal. I disabled the barcode scanner because I won’t use that. I do end up hitting that button expecting it to turn off the screen which is slightly annoying because I get a popup message asking if I want to turn on the barcode scanner again. Some better placement of that button would be nice but I guess that is a major function of the scanner so it’s just my problem to get accustomed to.
