There are many cheaper products available. After extensive research, I chose Excy for a few reasons: robustness, normal crank length (for maximum range of motion), stability, small size, light weight, and ability to fold.I pedal whenever I would otherwise be sitting and inactive: watching tv, surfing the internet on iPad, emailing, eating, etc. This can add 1-3 hours of extra daily activity. Note: because of the standard crank length, the knees rise too high to fit under a desk.I replaced the pedals with real clip-in pedals (easy) and use Shimano riding sandals (easy fit). Thus locked in, I can push and pull, and use both the front and back muscles of my legs. I have ridden a recumbent bicycle for 14 years; and can now replicate the experience indoors on a chair.
