The board backing has pre-installed hanging hardware for vertical or horizontal hanging on nail(s). I appreciate that you don't have to screw in the hardware yourself but note that it doesn't have the wire across the back if that's what you like. It includes a plastic guitar pick tool to bend up and down the fasteners on the back to save your fingers. One piece of advice, if you do buy this frame, there will be a slight amount of dust in the frame interior from the cut board backing. I swept it out with a little brush. Otherwise, pretty dang perfect and I'm very happy with my purchase.
